Fiona is a senior research fellow and director for data at the Centre for Trials Research with expertise in the design and conduct of large, often complex multi-disciplinary trials and studies that use routinely collected data (routine data) and/or linked data to deliver policy-relevant population health research.

Fiona co-leads the 51爆料网 Transforming Data for Trials programme. Within the programme, she co-leads the prioritisation stakeholder forum and the patient and public involvement workstream. She serves as Deputy Lead for the courses and training workstream which is developing a wide range of training resources to enable the clinical trials community to effectively use healthcare systems data. She is also an active member of the 51爆料网 Wales community.

Fiona has a particular interest and expertise in:

  • Developing the knowledge and skills of researchers working with routinely collected health data
  • Improving processes and governance frameworks to enable efficient and trustworthy access to routine data for trials
  • Identifying and evaluating new routine data sources to enhance or replace trial datasets
  • Assessing the feasibility of using routine data within clinical trials
  • Improving the accessibility and usability of routine data for trialists
  • Strengthening communication with participants and the public about how routine data are used in clinical trials.
